The Sony Ericsson X10 (Xperia X10) is due in the

first quarter of 2010 and is the manufacturer’s latest addition to the

Touchscreen range, following the Satio; the 12.1 Megapixel camera phone which

was so popular in 2009.

The X10 loses the resistive touchscreen found on the Satio however, and gains a

4.0 Inch Capacitive touchscreen like that found in the iPhone 3GS, although, the

screen in the Sony Ericsson is larger. The screen is a TFT unit that supports

65k colours at a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels which means that the X10 will

boast crystal clear imagery.

The X10 will run on Google’s Android OS software, which was one of the fastest

growing operating systems in 2009 although, Sony Ericsson have opted to offer

their own proprietary User Interface Timescape/Mediascape.

In terms of other features, the X10 is far from lacking, boasting an 8.0

megapixel camera which supports a maximum resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels with

Autofocus, LED flash, Touch Focus, image stabilization, geo-tagging and

face/smile detection. The combination of the camera and screen is sure to see

the X10 rivalling even the best handsets in its class. The camera also boasts

impressive video capture abilities with a WVGA video quality at 30fps.

The processor of choice is the tried and tested 1Ghz SnapDragon from Qualcomm

coupled with 256Mb of Ram, ensuring that even when running multiple

applications, the X10 will not experience even the slightest hint of lag. Thanks

to HSDPA support and Wi-Fi, the X10 will also be a more than capable internet

surfer for everything from Facebook to Youtube.

Also featured on the X10 are A-GPS, Java, an accelerometer, 1GB of internal

storage, MicroSD support and Bluetooth v2.1.
